Awesomeness. Just completed Bodhisattva on expert guitar in RB2. I haven't played the game properly for ages due to being distracted by other titles, but I thought I'd give the Steely Dan number a go and, as ever, I failed once and was then determined to do better with each retry. There are probably about two main points in the song that always kill me due to lack of star power - the mad slidey scales after the first solo (about 2:30 into the song) and the mad widdlywiddly bit near the end of the second solo (about 4:40), but with economic use of star power I just about scraped through.

Nice one :D

I'm glad it's not just me that's still playing this game. I really, really still love it.

Oh noes my 2nd set of drums is broked :(

Somehow the blue pad is cracked in half  Not sure if it was me hitting it too hard or something being dropped on it, but either way it's fucked and I now need to go out and buy another set. FML.

I need to read this thread from start to finish as I'm a recent convert via Lego Rock Band (it's still rock band :P) We also need to get another couple of controllers ....

/now skint

Still, was a cool and totally unforseen Christmas pressie to me from the other half. It took me two days to get around to putting it on and now it's not off, even the kids can play it ...Ewan now working up to medium difficulty on geetar....

Also something I hadn't mentioned in this thread is that, despite mainly being interested in the guitar bits, I bought some other stuff a couple of months ago; HMV were having a "2 for £30" deal on selected goods and they had a few instruments in there, so I picked up a microphone and a "Portable Drum Kit". Coupled with my GH2 and GH3 guitars, I technically have a full band now :P but the guitar is still my favourite. Unfortunately I'm a bit out of practice lately having been distracted by other games, but it's still great fun.

(oh, and whisper it, but there were once comments floating around about RB3 as a 2010 release. To my knowledge, the only foundations for the rumours are that Alex of Harmonix said that RB would break it's annual release cycle and so there wouldn't be a sequel released in 2009. I'm doubtful about the RB3 comments myself, as there's nothing stopping them saying that there won't be a sequel released this year, but hey...)

I thought RB3 was a while away yet. After The Beatles RB Harmonix has kept Dhani Harrison on as a consultant for RB3 and he said they were looking at ways to make the instruments more realistic, especially the guitar playing and saying that for RB3 he wants it to be able to teach you how to play the instruments.

Dhani Harrison wrote:“I’m working on ‘Rock Band 3’ and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game,” he says. “Give me a couple years, it’s going to happen.”

I hope he pulls it off so Guitar Hero can finally die. People seemed to hate GH3 but I have some love for that game but the ones that followed it were not only poor imitations of RB but their set lists were totally pathetic. Rock Band all the way now.

You've got Green Day RB to come out first. I just hope they put a fair amount of the older fun stuff on it, and not the preachy shit we've had in the last few years. :(

@TC: Don't worry, I've got Lego RB too although I only play the songs via RB2 (if that makes any sense). The Final Countdown is winful :D
