This song is helping me enjoy the current situation even more than I would have otherwise.

The first couple of months of the lockdown were a bit bad, not being able to see my nephews and nieces for so long, but I've been able to get over to see them a couple of times now so I'm not so sad.

We've had a couple of covid related deaths in the family, no close family members though, only relatives I've seen maybe once or twice at family parties.

Working from home has been kinda fun, and there's talk in my college of people who don't need to be onsite continuing working from home even after the college re-opens later in the year.

My team fall into that group as we're 100% software based. As long as we can VPN onto our desktops to access the programs we need, we can work from anywhere. I can do 80% of my job from my phone!

In related news, DJ Adam has blocked me on Twitter. He’s emerged as an anti-masker and is spending his time there sharing COVID-19 conspiracy articles. We had a fairly cordial interaction a few weeks back but since then I suspect some of my pro-mask content has struck a nerve and he’s closing up his filter bubble.

Shame. I’m all for standing up for civil liberties but a bit of perspective wouldn’t go amiss in times like these. If you want to fight against government oppression and autocratic policies then maybe pick a better hill to die on than “I will not cover my face holes around other people during a respiratory pandemic even if it saves one life”

Oh and on the “2020 is a dogshit dildo” theme, I got hit by a car again last week. Same situation, different roundabout. Driver moved off without checking her right, ploughed into my bike folding the rear wheel and brake disc and sending me into the tarmac. Bruises and grazes all over, helmet cracked apart (saved my head again). Nothing broken this time.

Very lucky there was a paramedic right there to witness it and check me over. The driver had borrowed her sisters car and was distracted by her screaming kid. Speaks broken English and has already asked if she can pay me off for repairs rather than go the claim/insurance route, which rings a few alarm bells. Not sure she realises how much carbon components cost to replace either..

After all that waxing of the old man, Dooj probably feels invincible. :)

PS - glad nothing's broken, at least of the human kind anyway.

You would think with what Dooj went through medically, he'd have a better perspective on protecting the NHS from being swamped to death. I know I have.

Having still got my 17 day old son in hospital with all manner of tubes inside him, I’ll vouch for how good the NHS can actually be when it needs to be.

I don’t mind the whole mask thing, it’s weird for me as I haven’t socially distanced or done anything different really at work since this whole thing started, but I’ll do what is needed because it’s such a small sacrifice. I just want Covid gone so my son can actually see my face without a mask on.

Thanks man, he’s doing much better now. Born at 34+6, 5lbs 2oz, diagnosed with a malrotated bowel and required emergency surgery to correct (and by emergency I mean they wheeled him out of the scan and straight to theatre without us really having a chance to say anything to him, while the surgeon rapidly tried to tell us what was happening and how many ways it could go wrong), then 12 days in the NICU at addenbrookes hospital. Fucking scariest time of my life, but he’s on the mend now and hopefully home on Monday :)

Pretty scary stuff.
Glad to know that it's going better now, Ekona.
