getting my laptop to work with a tv

Postby Dr Don » Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:59 am

so my relatives in oz have one of those old school big screen tv's and I'm trying to hook my laptop up to it to play games or watch all the TV I acquired. I got this adapter off ebay which is dsub to svideo/phono which I hooked up to the tv but can't get a clear picture. Australia uses PAL although this tv is from some asian country I can't make out the language on the menu so I thought it was just a case of selecting 720X576 25i in the catalyst control centre but there's a massive overhang from the sync, its in black and white and massively warped. Tried 640X480 30i and 29i but again in black and white and it just roles up and down the screen like its lost sync.

Not sure if its just the pin configuration from the dsub isn't correct or I need to change the settings to something else.

Any help would be appreciated
